Mur d'Arthur

Saturday, September 3rd on Arthur’s Seat - SPECIFIC TIMES TBA

A unique hill race on an iconic Edinburgh landmark!

Mur D'Arthur  will see 5 riders per heat battle it out to reach the top. The fastest two per heat will progress through the qualifiers to the final where the overall winner will be crowned.

The Go - Race event will allow riders, new to the sport, a taste of racing up one of Edinburgh's famous landmarks.

For those not racing, join us at the start line or watch the fight for the finish at the upper loch where you can also take in the stunning views across East Lothian and the Firth of Forth.

Come Down and Make Some Noise

The grass lined route will allow spectators to view the course along it’s whole length, with the scenic backdrop of Arthur’s Seat and the Firth of Forth providing a suitably dramatic finish line. There's sure to be some good photo opportunities - make sure to tag your shots #murdarthur as you post them online and let us know on Twitter @rondecc and Facebook.

With lots of riders across the categories, it should be an exciting day of racing. To keep competitors, support and spectators in good form there will be stalls on site provided by some quality local producers.

The Mur d'Arthur Route

The short, sharp 1.2km climb from St Margaret's Loch to Dunsapie Loch goes up the back road of Arthur's Seat. There's a few corners and some varied ramps along the way, with the finish line in front of the top slops of the hill.

The start line is by the gates just after the turn off from Queen's Drive. The finish is situated up by Dunsapie Loch where the road opens out to views up to the top of Arthur's Seat ahead and out to the Firth of Forth looking East.

Compete on the day to take spoils including the KOM and QOM for the new Mur d'Arthur Strava segment.
